Accomplishing Miracles

Accomplishing Miracles

If I were given one year to live would I have the courage to continue my life the way I wanted it to go? Or would I just give up and say “To hell with it all!” What would you do? What would anybody do? To answer these questions I would have to say that I hope I would have the strength that Rhio O’Connor had. He did not let a fatal cancer diagnosis stop his life journey. He fought back. And I want to someday be able to say that I too would fight back. That I will be a fighter of life to make sure that I can make the decisions that will change my life forever. Mr. O’Connor’s decision was between life and death but the same principles can be applied to all aspects of life.

If I were to be given a serious diagnosis I would be scared, and I probably wouldn’t have the resources or the money to fight back, however, I have the faith and the heart to put all of my effort into keeping my life going strong. But I feel that we should all being doing this anyways. What good is life if we are just going through the motions? We were put on this Earth to enjoy life and make a difference in the world and here is mine. I am an eighteen year old female. I attend California State University Long Beach, and I am proud. I have a 4.0 GPA, and I work hard to earn the grades that I receive. But this is just me on paper, and I am so much more than this. I am a lover, a hurter, a fighter, a winner, a loser.

I experience lust and pain and fury just as the rest of the world does. But my fingerprint is different than any other person’s on this Earth, and I want my life to be just as unique. I strive to make a difference in the the world by doing as much as I can. Since, financially I do not have the means to hardly make a dent, I use my words, my intelligence, and my visuals to make a difference. It started small. I rent my textbooks rather than buying them. This is good for everyone. I save paper, because we do not have to print more books. I save money, because I am only borrowing a book. And I save the planet, because for each book I rent Chegg.com plants a tree where the world need it most. It may not seem like much but it is just one of the small contributions that I am making to this world.

The world needs help no matter how small or large. And I am not just talking about the environment I am talking about everything. But back to my point. Life needs to be lived to the fullest. No matter if you have one year to live or sixty five. And, I think that each day of your life should make a difference. You have to live with drive and determination and power. But most importantly you have to live with confidence. With confidence in yourself and in others you can accomplish miracles and your life and those around you will prosper. So when asked “What will you do if you had one year to live?” I would reply, “I will continue to live my life with the drive and confidence it takes to accomplish miracles.”
