Paul Kraus, 79, author, poet and mesothelioma survivor, passed away at his home in Queensland, Australia. His death, according to his family, was unrelated to mesothelioma. Paul was diagnosed with this deadly cancer 27 years ago and is widely known as the longest-living mesothelioma survivor in the world.
Through his books, videos, interviews, and conferences, Paul helped many tens of thousands of cancer patients around the world. He has also helped many more people to live a healthier and cancer-preventative life.
Paul was born in 1944 in a Nazi forced labor camp in occupied Austria. His mother escaped the camp with her infant son (Paul) and his two year-old brother Peter. The family was reunited with Paul’s father after the war and they left Europe and settled in Australia.
Paul graduated with a BA from Macquarie University, and a Master of Arts and Education from the University of Sydney. After graduation, Paul became a high-school history teacher and writer. He married his wife Sue and they had two sons.
Paul wrote and edited twenty books and his writings encompassed various subjects including history, health, wellness, faith, and spirituality. His book “Surviving Mesothelioma” became the best-selling book on the subject and has been distributed in 22 countries and has stayed in print for over 17 years.
“Paul was a remarkable person with incredible faith, determination and optimism,” his wife Sue said.
Michael Horwin, Paul’s publisher said, “Through his writings, Paul reached countless people with his messages of love and health and healing. The lives of many people around the world were made better because of Paul. We will support his legacy by keeping his remarkable writings and books in print for future generations.”
